FRANCE CELEBRATES MY HERO ACADEMIA: 10 MILLION COPIES SOLD

A SPECTACULAR TRIBUTE AT TROCADERO FACING THE EIFFEL TOWER

From July 8 to July 10, 2024, Hype Notice, together with Brainwash and Ki-Oon, organized an extraordinary installation at Trocadero Square in Paris, directly facing the Eiffel Tower, to celebrate 10 million copies of My Hero Academia sold in France.

This unique activation aimed to honor the phenomenal success of the manga while creating a powerful cultural moment blending manga, pop culture, viral marketing and licensing activation.

A GIANT INSTALLATION THAT CAPTIVATED FANS

At the center of the event stood a monumental reproduction of a My Hero Academia manga volume, rising more than 4 meters high.

Placed against the iconic Paris skyline, the installation immediately attracted fans and tourists, quickly becoming viral across social media platforms.

An immersive exhibition also showcased iconic pages from the manga alongside exclusive merchandise created for the event.

This visual storytelling approach celebrated Japanese culture while strengthening emotional engagement with the fan community.

AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH KOHEI HORIKOSHI

The highlight of the event was a surprise interview with Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia.

During the interview, he shared his thoughts on the series’ success in France, highlighting the 10 million copies sold since the first volume was published in 2016.

He also expressed sincere gratitude to French fans, recognizing the strong cultural impact of the series outside Japan.

France now confirms its position as the second largest manga market in the world, just behind Japan.

A GLOBAL MANGA PHENOMENON

Worldwide, My Hero Academia surpassed 100 million copies in circulation in 2024.

The manga, first published in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 2014, currently counts 40 volumes and has become one of the most influential modern shōnen series.

In France, publisher Ki-Oon has sold over 10 million copies since 2016, with print runs reaching 150,000 copies per volume.

A DEFINING SERIES OF MODERN POP CULTURE

Created by Kohei Horikoshi, My Hero Academia follows the story of Izuku Midoriya, a boy born without powers in a world where almost everyone possesses superhuman abilities.

With the support of the legendary hero All Might, he enrolls in the prestigious U.A. High School to pursue his dream of becoming a hero.

Today, the franchise stands among the pillars of Japanese pop culture, alongside legendary series such as Naruto and One Piece.

The manga has also inspired anime series, movies, video games and merchandising, solidifying its global cultural impact.
