About Boogie
Born on the northern beaches of Sydney, a grand-daughter of the late best-selling novelist, Morris West and daughter of controversial internet entrepreneur, Creed O'Hanlon, American photographer Cheyenne Tulsa was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Los Angeles before returning to Australia in her early teens. She now lives in France.
Cheyenne’s exotic mix of Hawaiian, Native American, French and Anglo-Irish blood led to a brief career as a model but she abandoned the catwalk to develop her skills on the other side of a camera.
Just 19-years-old, her work is often autobiographical, tracing her occasionally Alice Through The Looking Glass-like journeys through disparate locales and social milieux, from Sydney’s homogenous, well-heeled, beachside suburbs to less ‘advantaged’ multicultural outposts on the edges of Paris and Barcelona. Shooting on 35mm and Polaroid instant film, as well as digital, her work is at once quirky and romantic.
Featured as an actress in the acclaimed short film, Hide and Seek, directed by Fiona McGee and produced by Ruby Smallbone and formerly the face of Milk & Honey's Designed By Ruby Rose collection, Cheyenne Tulsa has herself been experimenting with short, low res’ digital video incorporating her self-composed music.
